My problem is desserts. I am obsessed with desserts.

I love sweets, way too much sometimes! When I lived in New Orleans I missed all the great food from Puerto Rico. My mom and dad’s cooking and all the little places I used to get a bite of something.
One of the things I missed the most was flan. My cooking skills were, let’s say, not good. But my son was a baby back then and I wanted to make for him the things my parents cooked for me. So I called my mom. I asked her for the recipe. And I went shopping!
I used my mom’s recipe as the base and then I just kept changing the favors!
For the custard

1 can condensed milk
1 can evaporated milk
5 to 6 eggs
8oz of the flavor (Cream Cheese, Nutella)
I added
1tbsp of butter (unsalted)
1 dash of salt
All ingredients go into a blender, mix well! Pour over the caramel in the bowl. See below.
For the caramel
1 cup of sugar
I added
1 tsp of vanilla extract
1 tbsp bourbon, or rum (depending on the favors) or none at all.
All ingredients into a saucepan, medium-high. Keep stirring until it looks like caramel. Pour immediately over the baking pan or bowl.

This weekend I made a Nutella and a Cream Cheese flan. Next week will be two other different flavors. I suggest you stay connected and follow on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter!
The best companion for flan is coffee. Read my post on coffee!
Enjoy!
